Develop an application strategy that will get you accepted!

  1. Know what makes the Asian education system different

  2. Final check

  3. Visa and immigration documents

    1. Know what makes the Asian education system different

Before you can even think about applying to overseas schools, you have to understand how the Asian educational system is unique, and how it will affect your application.

    2. How to find the right schools

  • Make a list of schools that meet your academic expectations, budget, and preferred school location and environment. To find the most appropriate universities and graduate schools, use our school matching service, which also takes into account your academic performance and experience.

  • Request application packages from the schools by telephone, email, or through their websites.

3. Preparing application documents

  •  List all documents and tests required by each school in table format. Include application deadlines and be sure to highlight them! Nothing is more frustrating than missing a deadline after you have devoted so much time and work to preparing your application.

  • Documents may include the application form, bank statement, health certificate, and notarized copies of professional certificates, citations, licenses or awards.

  •   Contact the schools you have attended and request formal transcripts and official diploma copies to be sent to the schools you are applying to.

4. The personal statement and resume

  • Write the first draft of your personal statement and resume. Stuck on what to write? Look at our database of essay and resume samples. Need help? Our consulting team will be glad to help you.

  • Write additional letters, and your research prospectus.

  • Read more about polishing your resume and writing essays.

5. Letters of recommendation

  • Make a list of possible recommenders. Consider how well you know them, the nature of your relationship, and their reputation within the academic and business communities.

  • Read more about letters of recommendation.

6. Take the standardized tests

  • Decide whether you will study on your own or enroll in a test preparation course.

  • Research the dates and locations of the standardized tests, such as the GRE and the TOEFL, offered in your home country. Look at your schedule and decide when and where you will write them. Send your test application to ETS with the application fee.

7. Attend the Interviews

  •   Read our interview primer to help you prepare for the interview.

  • Schedule the interviews.

8. Final Check

Make sure your application looks professional and organized. Your essays and personal data should be typed, preferably in Arial font, with your essay question and name at the top of each page.

Contact the schools and ensure that all components of the application have arrived and that nothing is missing.

9. Your In!

Make travel plans and start looking for housing.

10. Visa and Immigration Documents

Prepare visa and immigration documents. For example, if you are accepted by a school in the United States, they will send you an I-20 form. You will need this to apply for a student visa at the American Consulate or Embassy in your city.

Say good-bye to your country and prepare yourself for an exciting new adventure!
